About Jalene...
Jalene
became involved in politics in 1994 when
she joined a Private Property rights
group to fight the listing of Mt. Shasta
as a historical district. Through her
involvement in this group,
Jalene became
involved in the campaigns of the
Republican Legislators that were
actively working to reverse the listing.
In 1997, Jalene was elected Siskiyou
County Republican Central Committee
Chairman, at age 25 she was the youngest
in the state. She became involved in the
County Chairman’s Association first
serving as Secretary then as 2nd Vice
Chairman. She also was the Area Chairman
representing the 5 Counties in her Area
on the CRP Executive Committee. Jalene
was elected Northern Region
Vice-Chairman of the
CRP in 2001 and
re-elected in 2003. Jalene was elected
Secretary of the CRP in 2004 and is
currently serving her second term.
Jalene Forbis is a 5th Generation
Railroader. She is the Vice President of
the Shasta Sunset
Dinner Train and
Executive Director of the California
Short Line Railroad Association. She
also sits on many committees on the
American Short Line Railroad Association
including serving as
the
Vice President of the Legislative Policy
Committee. Earlier this year, Jalene was
honored as Railroad Woman of the Year by
League of Railway Industry Women and
Progressive Railroading Magazine. In her
role as VP of the Shasta Sunset Dinner
Train she is a member of the California
Tourism Industry Association.
Jalene and her two sons Tye (16) and Travis (14) live in Weed. Her children
often attend political events with her
and she actively participates in their
education and sports activities. She
serves as a Board Member of the Weed
Union Elementary School Board, previous
to that she served two terms on the Weed
Elementary School Site Council, coached
soccer and actively supports their
sports programs.
Jalene is an active participant in her
community. She currently sits on the
Siskiyou Golden Fair Board. She is an
alumni of Leadership Siskiyou County
2001. She was named 2nd Assembly
District Woman of the Year in 1998 by
Assemblyman Tom Woods.
