Mark Kirk has lived in the Victor Valley for over
twenty-two years. A graduate of Hesperia High
School, Mark is married to Erin Kirk, an adjunct
instructor at Victor Valley College and at California
State University. Mark was born in
Norman, Oklahoma where he moved and transferred to
Hesperia Junior High in the seventh grade. Upon
graduating Valedictorian from Hesperia High School, Mark
attended the University of Arizona in Tucson. Upon
graduation, Mark moved back to the Victor Valley and
started teaching Middle School Math and Science.
In 2001, shortly after completing his Masters Degree,
Mark met Sharon Runner who was in the planning stages of
her eventual successful campaign for Assembly.
Mark was an integral facet of the campaign, and
afterwards accepted a job working for Assemblyman George
Runner. Upon completion of his term, Mark went to
work for Assemblywoman Sharon Runner as her District
Director for the next two years. In 2004, Mark
met then Ontario Mayor Gary Ovitt. After
organizing his eventual successful campaign for County
Supervisor, Gary hired Mark to oversee campaign
operations. Later that same year, Gary Ovitt hired
Mark to oversee staff hiring and policy direction as his
Chief of Staff. In addition to his government
experience, Mark has worked as an independent consultant
in the areas of education, policy and finance.
Mark’s work as a small businessman has formed his
understanding of how small businesses help shape a
community. Mark’s experience in education,
government and business make him the best choice for
City Council. Mark’s understanding of the budget
process means he can ‘hit the ground running,’ producing
results for the residents of Hesperia. Mark’s
top three priorities are 1) traffic congestion, 2) fully
funding our police and fire services, and 3) bringing
more high paying jobs to Hesperia. Mark’s
experience and commitment are why the San Bernardino
County Professional Firefighters as well as the San
Bernardino County Deputy Sheriffs support his campaign
for City Council.
